Kim to be single again?
The couple is headed for splitsville. The saucy Mohabbatein actress, who was earlier involved with cricketer Yuvraj Singh, was shattered after the ugly break-up, till she started dating Carlos.
Kim and Carlos first met on a flight from Toronto to London and it was love at first sight. Kim and Carlos had even decided to tie the knot in February 2010. “Distance pulled them apart.
That’s the reason why the shaadi did not happen,” says a source close to Kim.
After kissing several frogs in the hope that they’d metamorphose into Prince Charming, one thought that Kim had finally got lucky. Alas!
Siddhartha Mallya tones up for Deepika
Certainly, her newest beau, the young Siddhartha Mallya gets full marks for trying. The scion of the UB Group cut a podgy figure on the party circuit when he arrived from England over two years ago. "
But perhaps he didn’t have much incentive to lose flab. Until the arrival of luscious Deepika in his life.
The work-hard, party-hard Mallya junior who is said to be smitten by Deepika-one of his favourite requests at night clubs, we hear, is Uff teri adaa from Kartik calling Kartik — has been dieting hard and working out harder to match steps with his lady love.
At a recent appearance the two made for a striking couple.
On her part, Deepika who has been seen with Siddhartha at IPL matches and Formula One races, is only too willing to reciprocate his affection.
A certain Ranbir Kapoor is evidently a closed chapter.
Bebo, Saif go house hunting!
The reason? Fortune Heights is where Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan live. They have an apartment on the 10th floor. And Saif’s production house has its office on the second. Now the wily builder of the building across is rumoured to be looking at a “good price” for the flats that overlook Bollywood’s most celebrated couple’s living room!
When Saif bought the penthouse, it was one of the most coveted properties in the area. The actor, who lived in Versova, took a lot of time selecting this apartment. He also bought a huge office on the second floor. Then, Kareena moved in. However, as is the case in every bylane of Mumbai, suddenly there is another tall building across the road. And Saif and Kareena are seriously house-hunting again.
Bebo, who didn’t know too many details of the opposite building, said, “Saif and I love our current home. It has a very good vibe. But, yes, I can see other buildings have suddenly cropped up. And at some point our privacy may be compromised. So we are looking at buying a bungalow in and around Bandra. It’s hard to find the kind of home that Saif has in mind. He wants a very English-styled villa!” If they don’t find that, the next best thing to do would be to buy the top storey flats in the building opposite!
SRK, Gauri to act together
Very soon, the couple will be seen in a television commercial. The buzz in the industry is that they will endorse a very popular furnishing house. The shoot for the commercial is likely to take place in Mumbai.
Ad filmmaker, Sunhil Sippy, (who directed Snip) will be directing King Khan and his wife in this commercial. And in this stint, Sunhil seems to have got by with a little help from his friends Makarand Deshpande and Saurabh Shukla actively helping him out wherever possible.
Gauri, who has always maintained a very low profile in the industry, is known to have designed costumes for her husband during his Baazigar (1993) days. She turned producer with Main Hoon Na (2004) and Om Shanti Om (2007). According to the source Gauri is finally letting go of her shell.
“Gauri has been approached for commercials earlier but somehow things never worked out. This commercial with Shah Rukh will be her first full-fledged assignment in front of the camera,” added the source.
Be it Saif Ali khan and Kareena Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai or Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna, star couples have always sizzled on the small screen.
Jail-bird Lindsay
Lindsay Lohan's jail term has been reduced and the actress may be released as early as Aug 2, says Los Angeles Country Sheriff spokesman Steve Whitmore.
Mean Girls’ star Lindsay Lohan is said to be getting VIP treatment in prison, with gourmet meals, sweets and even drugs being provided for her.
Lindsay Lohan's repeated parole violations finally caught up with her Tuesday when the troubled young actress was handcuffed and sent to jail to serve a 90-day sentence.
Lindsay Lohan's new attorney, celebrity lawyer Robert Shapiro, said on Friday the troubled actress will go to jail as recently ordered by the judge overseeing her probation.
Ash steals hearts!
But while Rajinikanth made the kind of impact that only he can, it was Aishwarya Rai Bachchan — looking her gorgeous self in a Manish Malhotra outfit — who proved to be quite a heart-stealer! An instant hit with the crowds, she even greeted the 3,000 plus crowd in their native language. According to a source, the flow of the event was to be such that Ash would make her appearance first on stage along with the cast of the film. “However, Ash surprised them all as she insisted that since it’s a music event, the focus should be on the director, music director, the lyricist and they should therefore be going on stage before her and speak about the music. They all obliged and later when Ash finally took the stage, the crowds went crazy as they chanted her name,” says the source.
Small screen's big games!
When “Bigg Boss” first started, it cashed in on Arshad Warsi’s newfound Munna Bhai popularity, and the big screen’s Circuit made the perfect tongue-in-cheek host on the bitchy show. With its second season, the show went bigger and brought in Shilpa Shetty, who was basking in her international fame post her “Celebrity Big Brother” win. And in its third, Bachchan, the original KBC host, played the ‘friend, philosopher and guide’ to the show’s inmates. Now, after Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and even Sanjay Dutt being in the running to don the host’s hat, Salman Khan has emerged as the final choice, putting his “Dus Ka Dum” on hold.
Major TV shows have always played high-stakes musical chairs with the host’s seat. After Bachchan’s super-successful two-season stint with KBC, Shah Rukh Khan stepped in. And now, the Big B is back in its latest season. Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar’s khiladi tag couldn’t stop him being replaced by Priyanka, who’s now going to kick butt in the next season of “Khatron Ke Khiladi”. Talk about watching the same faces in many shows!
But let alone host loyalty, shows don’t even seem to possess channel loyalty. “Bigg Boss” moved from Sony to Colors in its third season. KBC too, shifted from Star Plus to Sony after its first two seasons. As they say, TV shows make strange bedfellows!

Delhi Sex Baba's associate taken into police custody
Now, a close friend of his is about to share the same fate.
Ankit alias Praveen, an alleged associate of the Godman has been booked under the MCOCA by Delhi police. Ankit had been held earlier this year with six prostitutes in Saket.
Police claim that Ankit possesses a fortune of several crores, while in the past he was virtually penniless.
"He was only a taxi driver. But when he came in contact with Dwevedi he became a rich man almost overnight. We have gone through his bank transactions that run into crores of rupees. Ankit has booked three flats worth several crores in Mehruali area in south Delhi. How can a common taxi driver become a millionaire within a year while he doesn't have any income source to justify his assets?" said a senior police officer.
The officer also said that Ankit has been sent to police remand for two days and will be interrogated about his wealth. Police said he has been close to Dwivedi and was helping him run the nationwide sex racket.
"He used to arrange call girls for the flesh trade and so we booked him under MCOCA," the officer concluded.
From a security guard in Delhi earning Rs 6000 a month to a self-styled spiritual guru and sex-racketeer amassing property worth crores, Rajiv Ranjan Dwevedi, popularly known as the Sex Baba, has had a meteoric rise.
A 10th standard pass out, Dwevedi got his first job as a security guard at a five-star hotel in Agra. He later pursued the same vocation at a Delhi hotel.
In 1996, Dwevedi made a career change when he joined Lifeline Beauty parlour in Lajpat Nagar-II as a manager. It was then that he devised a plan for making quick money while looking at advertisements of beauty and massage parlours in a newspaper.
Dwevedi was inspired by the idea of running a sex trade under the guise of a beauty salon. In 1997, joining hands with his friends Sanjay Dwivedi and Sanjay Mishra, he opened a beauty parlour in a basement at Lajpat Nagar Part-2. They named the salon 'Sai Point Beauty Parlour and Training Centre,' as Dwevedi was a Sai Baba follower.
They offered Bangkok massage facilities to men for just Rs 650. The sex racket flourished and in a short while Dwivedi moved into a plush home in East of Kailash.
Dwevedi's luck ran out very soon and on July 1, 1997, Delhi police arrested him under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. However, he was soon out on bail. His second arrest was in a robbery case in 1998, when he was held at the Badarpur police station. Again, he was released on bail. In 2003, he was arrested for running a sex-racket in NOIDA.
Police sources said that when Dwevedi was released this time, his spiritual leanings came to the fore. He changed his appearance, style of functioning and technique. He presented himself as a huge Sai Baba Bhakt to the masses. But material needs made him continue with the flesh trade. Soon, he had made it so big that he could operate a nationwide prostitution syndicate.
But all this was too good to last. On February 26, Dwevedi was nabbed by the Delhi police along with six women. He now will be charged under the stringent provisions of MCOCA.
Asha Bhosle explains 'Machchar Raj' malaria tweet
"Mumbai: Machhar war is in full swing", Asha said on the microblogging site. This was followed by, "'Machhar' Raj", which fetched some pointed queries from her followers. Asha was quick to clarify that she was not referring to MNS chief Raj Thackeray. "I was not referring to Raj Thackeray," she tweeted.
Raj Thackeray had made yet another controversial statement over the weekend, blaming "migrants" or "outsiders" in Mumbai for the malaria outbreak.
"Dengue and malaria are spreading fast in the city due to dirty illegal slums which are occupied by migrants only," he said, and added, "Migrants are attacking Mumbai and ruining it."
It was not surprising that Asha Bhosle's tweets, coming very soon after Thackeray's comments, had tweeple talking.
But Asha was at pains to explain, "I meant too many buzzing around & flying around...I was only talking about the machhar (mosquito) problem all over the country. You are seeing some hidden meaning in my words," she said. The noted singer also asked her fans not to create "bilawaja (unnecessary) controversies", or else she would have to stick to "namaste, dhanyavaad & thank you" on twitter.
Which would be a pity. Because unlike many other stars, the 77-year-old has some lively and often tongue-in-cheek comments to make on twitter. Like when she tweeted yesterday, "CWG has become DMG (Disaster Management Games)."
While on the mosquito trail, she added, "Controversies are created in persons mind. Words are harmless (as you have seen). It's how you perceive them that creates problems. Right?"
And she told another follower, "Kuch to log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna..." Clearly, the legend shall not be wasting any sleep on this.
In March this year, the singer had snubbed Raj Thackeray by saying, "Hindustan belongs to all," when asked whether Mumbai was turning ugly with the exodus from outside. In the audience, sat Raj Thackeray.
"People are bound to flock to Mumbai as Hindustan belongs to all. Those who work hard here become prosperous. I also worked in my field with determination to earn success. I have sung in all Indian languages but I am a proud Maharashtrian," Asha Bhosle had said.
Huge crunch of officials in armed forces
t is crunch time for the three defence services as they are facing a shortage of 14,244 officers and the Coast Guard was short of 679 officers and over 2,500 personnel below officer rank. Defense Minister AK Anthony told the Lok Sabha on Monday that the shortage of officers is around 11,500 in the Army, 1,507 in Navy and 1,237 in the Air Force.
According to Anthony, the the shortage of officers was "partly attributable to accretions from time to time, tough selection procedures, difficult service conditions coupled with perceived high degree of risk involved in recruitment and training.
He added that a number of steps to attract youth to join the Armed Forces have been taken, which include increase in tenure of Short Service Commission (SSC)officers from 10 to 14 years, increasing promotional avenues for officers by implementing the A V Singh Committee recommendations on the
restructuring of officers cadre of the Indian Army and implementing the Sixth Pay Commission report.
Replying to another query, Antony said the DRDO was facing a shortage of aeronautical engineers and the premier defence research agency requires 20 such engineers every year or the next five years.
Now pay Rs80 to visit loo at Delhi Airport
Now you will have to think twice before answering the nature`s call at the new Terminal 3 (T3) of the Delhi Airport as visiting the loo has become expensive. You will now have to pay Rs80 for it.
The reason why nothing comes cheap at the IGI Airport`s new terminal is that it has cost more than Rs10,000 crore to build.
Terminal 3, the world-class, integrated terminal caters to international flights at present.
The terminal has three visitor`s lounges - a huge one at the arrivals level that offers a wide array of facilities and shopping options and two smaller ones at the departure level, one each at the international and domestic side.
While entry to the arrival visitor`s lounge will cost Rs80, visitors could enter the lounges at the departure for free on the first two days after operations began on July 28. If you want to visit the restroom or even buy a bottle of water, you will have to pay and enter the visitor`s lounge, as no facilities are available outside the terminal.
Even at the old Terminal 2, visitors coming to receive or see off passengers had to pay Rs80 to enter the visitor`s lounge but there were enough number of toilets outside the terminal, near the airline offices.
"We are being treated like animals at this airport because we arrived a few hours before we were supposed to check in for our flight," said Sylvia, a Spanish national. "There is nothing to drink or eat here and I can`t find a restroom," she said.
Sports Ministry orders Kalmadi aide's removal
Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chairperson and Indian Olympic Association (IOA) Suresh Kalmadi`s trouble has increased as the Sports Ministry has asked to remove CWG OC joint director- general TS Darbari.
The Sports Ministry has written a letter to Kalmadi and asked for his aide`s removal. Darbari, who is considered to be close to Kalmadi, is being investigated in a six-month-old customs duty evasion case.
He is currently facing an inquiry for allegedly smuggling a diamond from Dubai. His name also featured in the Queen`s Baton Relay controversy in which a large sum of money was paid to AM Films by the organisers of the Commonwealth Games.
Darbari is considered to be the second most powerful man in the Organising Committee after Suresh Kalmadi.
Kalmadi`s decision to include Darbari in the OC faced opposition from other members of the Committee, say reports.
Darbari is a key face of OC. He heads important functional areas like revenue, marketing & merchandising and marketing, and the government feels that his presence "affects the credibility of OC".
Earlier, CBI registered the first case of corruption relating to Commonwealth Games (CWG), against five MCD officials and the managing director of a private firm for causing a loss of Rs 3.62 crore to the government.
Big bash planned for Tharoor's marriage
Former Union Minister of state for external affairs Shashi Tharoor is expected to tie the knot with his long-time friend Sunanda Pushkar on August 17, which is the Malayalam new year.
Sunanda is a Dubai-based businesswoman. According to reports, the Tharoor-Pushkar marriage will be solemnized in an auditorium in the premises of the Sree Padmanabha Swamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram.
It is also official now that Tharoor has divorced his Canadian wife, Christa Giles. The parliament record of the Thiruvananthapuram MP mentions his status as divorcee.
Tharoor and Pushkar offered prayers at the famous Sai Baba Temple in Shirdi and at the Shani Shingnapur shrine in Maharashtra's Ahmednagar district on Sunday.
After the visit to the two temples Shashi Tharoor tweeted: "Wonderful visit 2 open-air temple to Saturn at Shani Shingnapur. Simple ritual in clean, pure surroundings.1can nvr know enuf of our culture. Made 1st visit to Shirdi. Extraordinary temple to Sai Baba, who preached shraddha & saburi (faith&peace) 100yrs ago. 'Sab ka malik ek' (1God)."
Tendulkar becomes most-capped Test player
Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar has become the most-capped Test cricketer in the world after taking field for his 169th match, the third and final of the ongoing series against Sri Lanka.
The 37-year-old batsman holds almost every batting record. He overtook retired former Australian captain Steve Waugh with whom he was tied at 168 matches after the second Test at SSC.
Tendulkar has scored 13,742 runs in 168 Tests at an average of 56.08, notching up 48 hundreds and 55 half-centuries in the process.
Tendulkar has also played 442 one-day internationals, just a couple of matches less than Sri Lankan Sanath Jayasuriya`s record of 444.
He has 17,598 runs, including 46 centuries, in his 442 one-dayers. He also holds the distinction of being the first batsman to score a double hundred in ODIs.

Salman to host Big Boss 4
"Salman Khan has been finalised as the host of the next season. We will announce the development officially soon," a source from entertainment channel Colors told IANS.
Earlier, grapevine was rife that either Shah Rukh or Akshay Kumar are being zeroed in on as the "Bigg Boss 4" host since Amitabh gave a nod to the upcoming season of "Kaun Banega Crorepati", to be aired on Sony. But now Salman's entry on the show will be officially announced at an event in Mumbai Tuesday evening.
Considering that the channel has plans to launch the show in October, there might also be a clash with "Kaun Banega Crorepati 4", the promos of which have already gone on air.
However, the source said: "We are not sure when exactly will the show go on air, but we plan to launch it in October for sure. The dates are still to be worked out."
"Bigg Boss" is the Indian version of popular British reality show "Big Brother". It has celebrity contestants locked in a house under the surveillance of multiple cameras for a period of three months without any contact with the outside world.
Its past three seasons were hosted by Arshad Warsi, Shilpa Shetty and Amitabh, respectively.
When Aamir almost turned down Peepli Live
There is a story about the making of director Anusha Rizvi's Peepli Live and it sounds hard to believe.
According to the story, Rizvi was looking for funding for the film. She somehow managed to get Aamir Khan's email and wrote to the star. The subject line of the email was "The Falling" -- Rizvi's first choice of title for the film. Khan received the email while he was on the set of The Rising: Ballad of Mangal Pandey and he opened the email because of the subject line. He thought someone was playing a joke on him.
"It is true," Khan said recently as he visited New York City to promote his home production -- Peepli Live. "When I read the email I thought someone was being cheeky with me. So I didn't take it seriously. But she kept writing to me and told me that she was a journalist from NDTV. So that's when I started to take her a little bit more seriously."
Later when Khan was in New Delhi for the Rang De Basanti shoot, he called Rizvi (who is based in India's capital city) for a script narration meeting.
"I really loved it," Khan said. "I thought it was really funny, fast pace, thought provoking and heart breaking."
Test milestone for Tendulkar
Sachin Tendulkar became the most capped Test player in history on Tuesday, a fitting record for the Little Master to achieve at the back end of a wonderful career.
The milestone was achieved as Tendulkar strode out for the third Test against Sri Lanka at the P. Sara Oval in Colombo - marking the 169th time he has taken the field for a Test match for India.
A talismanic figure for his country over the years, Tendulkar made his Test debut against fierce rivals Pakistan in Karachi at the tender age of just 16 and has gone on to become arguably the best batsman ever seen.
Now 37 years old, Tendulkar shows no signs of slowing down and he scored 203 in the second Test against Sri Lanka a couple of weeks ago.
With his latest Test appearance, the Little Master moves above former Australian captain Steve Waugh in the standings.
Dream
"It's been a privilege to play for India for so long, because it was my dream to represent the country," Tendulkar said. "Cricket is my passion. I think it is a gift from God that I have been able to live that passion for so many years. It's just fantastic."
Indian fans believe Tendulkar is a gift from God and he is worshipped in his cricket-mad homeland - no wonder given the length and quality of service he has given them over the years.
Tendulkar also holds the record for the most Test runs with 13,742 and the most Test centuries with an astonishing 48 to his name - all this coming with an average of 56.08 and throwing in just the 55 half centuries.
He is not just a Test specialist though, turning from Little Master to Master Blaster in the one-day format. Tendulkar showed as much in February when he became the first player ever to make a double hundred in an ODI against South Africa.
The maestro from Bombay also holds the records for one-day runs scored with 17,598, and one-day centuries with 46, cementing his place as the dominant batsman of his generation in both forms of the game.
Records
Tendulkar has 442 ODIs under his belt, just two behind Sri Lanka stalwart Sanath Jayasuriya's record of 444, while to add another string to his bow he has collected 44 Test wickets and 154 one-day scalps with the ball.
When asked if his records would ever be beaten, Tendulkar said: "Records are meant to be broken. But one will have to play a long time for that. When it happens, I just hope an Indian does it."
It would take anyone a long time to topple Tendulkar's achievements, but he is not done yet, and whether anyone can match his dominance in both forms of cricket remains to be seen.
There may never be another Tendulkar - Indian fans would agree with that - and the Little Master rightly sits at the top of all the important batting records in the game. Remarkably, he still looks in as good a touch as ever.
Somdev in top 100
Somdev Devvarman was ranked No. 96 in the latest rankings released by the ATP on Monday.
The big breakthrough was pending a long time for the No.1 tennis player of the country, who had beaten the towering John Isner of the US, ranked No.19 now, in the final in 2007, for the first of his two NCAA titles.
Devvarman became the sixth Indian men's tennis player after ATP computer rankings started in August 1973, to figure in the top-100 behind Vijay Amritraj (16), Ramesh Krishnan (23), Leander Paes (73), Anand Amritraj (74) and Sashi Menon (87).
Ramanathan Krishnan who had reached the singles semifinals of Wimbledon in 1960 and 1961, apart from the quarterfinals of French Open in 1962, was unofficially ranked as high as No.3 in the world in his time.
“It was long time due. The time has come for Somdev at last,” said the captain of the Indian Davis Cup team, S.P. Misra, quite pleased to hear the news.
Devvarman's effort in the tournament in Los Angeles last week, when he came through the qualifying event and won a round, helped him collect 32 ATP points and break the barrier, 12 years after Paes had broken into the top-100 in 1998. When he made the final of the ATP Tour event in Chennai last year, Devvarman broke through into the top-200 and was ranked 155.
