Kamasutra is based on ancient Hindu philosophies and was first translated into English in 1883 under the guidance of Victorian explorer Richard Burton.

"Now there's no need to feel embarrassed by reading a copy of this wonderful and important book in public - simply download it on to your mp3 player and liven up your commute to work," The Guardian quoted Simon Petherick, the managing director of Beautiful Books, as saying.

"When I was asked to read the Kama Sutra I felt nervous and excited at the thought of it," Franks said.

When we finally did it I was completely relaxed and we had a great time. The only thing missing was the cigarette afterwards," she added.

Think twice before complaining that your husband do not help you in daily household chores as a study has said that husbands actually contribute more than their fair share of work in the house.

According to a research by the London School of Economics (LSE), wives who moan they have to juggle a `double-shift` with duties at work and then at home have in fact got it wrong, the Daily Mail reported Thursday.

The experts, who took into account paid and unpaid work, as well as voluntary work and care, found that men make much more of a contribution than they are given credit for.

While women tend to cut down on office time or leave work after having children, many men compensate for the lost earnings by working extra hours and overtime, the study found.

Researchers said both men and women work an average of eight hours a day in paid jobs or unpaid duties.

"This data overturns the well-entrenched theory that women work disproportional long hours in jobs and at home in juggling family and work," Dr Catherine Hakim, a sociologist at the LSE, said.

"Feminists constantly complain that men are not doing their fair share of domestic work. The reality is that most men already do more than their fair share."

However, couples who have no children, and in which both partners have full-time jobs, are the only group for which women`s overall workload was greater than men`s, the research found.

Huge crunch of officials in armed forces

t is crunch time for the three defence services as they are facing a shortage of 14,244 officers and the Coast Guard was short of 679 officers and over 2,500 personnel below officer rank. Defense Minister AK Anthony told the Lok Sabha on Monday that the shortage of officers is around 11,500 in the Army, 1,507 in Navy and 1,237 in the Air Force.

According to Anthony,the the shortage of officers was "partly attributable to accretions from time to time, tough selection procedures, difficult service conditions coupled with perceived high degree of risk involved in recruitment and training.

He added that a number of steps to attract youth to join the Armed Forces have been taken, which include increase in tenure of Short Service Commission (SSC)officers from 10 to 14 years, increasing promotional avenues for officers by implementing the A V Singh Committee recommendations on the

restructuring of officers cadre of the Indian Army and implementing the Sixth Pay Commission report.

Replying to another query, Antony said the DRDO was facing a shortage of aeronautical engineers and the premier defence research agency requires 20 such engineers every year or the next five years.

Corinne A Moss-Racusin, a doctoral candidate in Rutgers' Department of Psychology, explored the consequences for men (and women) when they acted modestly in job interviews. This study has not many takers in India as the likes of Shashi Tharoor, Shahrukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and many other stars without great figure are still loved and adored by millions of women.

Modesty was viewed as a sign of weakness, a low-status character trait for males that could adversely affect their employability or earnings potential.

However, in women, modesty was not viewed negatively nor was it linked to status."For men and women, there are things they must and must not be. Women must be communal and other-oriented, but they must not be dominant. Historically and cross-culturally, men have been stereotyped as more agentic, that is, more independent and self-focused than women," Moss-Racusin said.

In the study, 132 female and 100 male student volunteers (who earned partial academic credit for their psychology course) viewed videotaped, 15-minute job interviews of either males or females.

All the applicants were paid actors rehearsed to deliver similar, "modest" responses for the gender-neutral position that required strong technical abilities and social skills.

The researchers sought to determine which gender stereotype promote backlash.

The researchers' prediction that modest male applicants would face hiring discrimination was not supported, however, and she speculates that because men's status is higher than women's, meek men are afforded the benefit of the doubt and are less likely to encounter hiring discrimination than dominant women.The study was published in the journal Psychology of Men and Masculinity.

Payal Rohtagi says Rahul Mahajan hit her Twice

While the recent controversy surrounding Rahul Mahajan and his wife Dimpy Ganguly is being settled down, Rahul's former girlfriend Payal Rohtagi has alleged that Rahul had beaten him twice in the past.

The family drama that was enacted when Rahul Mahajan thrashed his wife, Dimpy Ganguly, on the early hours of Thursday, Dimpy surfaced on Friday evening and told the media, “we both regret the incident. Rahul feels sorry for his action. Now everything is settled.”



Earlier in the day, Dimpy left his husband`s Worli house after she was beaten up by her husband. According to Mumbai Mirror, Dimply vowed never to return to her husband`s home. There were bruises on her chin, both hands and her left cheek was swollen.



According to Dimpy, Rahul beat her up after waking her up to know the contents of a message that had just beeped on her phone. When Dimpy asked him to let her sleep, he lost his temper and began hitting her. She was punched, kicked and dragged her by her hair.

Will take action if Rahul Mahajan's wife complains: Minister

Following reports that Dimpy Ganguly has walked out of her four-month-old marriage to Rahul Mahajan alleging domestic violence, Women and Child Development Minister Krishna Tirath Friday said a panel will look into the matter if the victim lodges a complaint with them.

"I will ask the National Commission for Women (NCW) to look into the matter if she (Dimpy) lodges a formal complaint with us. Domestic violence in no way is acceptable," Tirath told reporters here.

Dimpy married Rahul, son of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Pramod Mahajan, on the Imagine TV reality show "Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega" in March this year.

"Rahul beat me up early Thursday morning after waking me up to know the contents of a message that had beeped on my phone. When I asked him to go back to sleep, he flew into a rage and began hitting me. He punched, kicked and dragged me by the hair," the 22-year-old Kolkata-based model told a TV channel.

Rahul has been accused of domestic violence for the second time. Earlier, his first wife Shweta Singh had accused him of physically abusing her. They separated in 2008.

Bullfighting is also practised in a small number of other countries besides Spain – albeit with regional twists:

Portugal

Portuguese bullfighting is generally described as "bloodless" because the bull is not killed in the ring. Often, however, a butcher will dispatch a wounded animal backstage though the lucky ones are packed off to take part in American rodeos or put out to pasture. Unlike the Spanish version, in Portugal the bullfighter is usually on horseback, and the bull's horns are sometimes filed down to make them less sharp.

France

Bullfighting has been popular in pockets of southern France for 150 years. Though the practice contravenes a 1976 act that outlaws the torture and deliberate mistreatment of animals, the law makes an exception for La Corrida in areas where there is an "unbroken, local, tradition". Even men can feel as unattractive as women

It is believed that women feel unattractive at certain times of the month, but not only women, men are just as likely to suffer "fat days", says a new study.

Men too may feel less confident about their appearance and suffer from low self esteem.

According to a survey of more than 5,000 men, 34 per cent said feeling unattractive gives them less confidence to initiate sex with their partner, according to the Telegraph.

Almost one in six men agree that low self esteem about their appearance impacts their confidence in bed and more than a quarter would consider losing weight to boost their performance.

To help tackle the issue, health company Pfizer, in partnership with leading British health organisations, has launched a service Man MOT (Monday Opportunity to Talk) for men who lack confidence or time to visit their general practitioners (GPs).

Tracey Cox of Man MOT said: "Men shouldn`t be suffering in silence, there`s lot of help out there, offering real solutions to improving sexual confidence and performance."

Men will have the opportunity to seek advice on any health issues they may be worried or concerned about and browse a range of health publications online.

Azharuddin to divorce Sangeeta Bijlani

Former India captain and now MP Mohammad Azharuddin has separated from his wife of 14 years Sangeeta Bijlani. Mid Day has reported on Friday.

According to paper,Azharuddin will be filing for divorce within a week, and that he is currently dating 26-year-old badminton player Jwala Gutta.

Gutta, word No. 7 in mixed doubles, is currently married to India`s top ranked badminton player Chetan Anand , but the couple is said to be estranged.

Sources say that Whenever he is in Hyderabad, he is seen in Pullela Gopichand`s academy where Jwala practises and they both leave together. They head to some hotel but I am not sure if they stay together in the same room.

"Jwala and her husband are not staying together at the moment and are even practising separately," he added. Though she said, “She and Azhar are only good friends.

The report further adds that Azharuddin was spotted at the Asian Badminton Championship in Delhi recently and the couple have even been watching matches together.

While Azhar told the newspaper `it was all rumours,` Jwala Gutta said `You can write what you want, it`s neither a yes nor a no.` Her husband Chetan Anand said, `It`s a personal issue and I don`t want to comment anything.`

Piya Milan Ki Aas and Reshmi Roomal followed, setting the stage for the Vijay Bhatt-directed Hariyali Aur Raasta (1962) opposite Mala Sinha. Kumar then appeared with Sadhana in Raj Khosla's Woh Kaun Thi (1964), and reunited with Vijay Bhatt and Mala Sinha in Himalaya Ki God Mein (1965).

Manoj Kumar’s image as the patriotic hero started with the 1965 film Shaheed, based on the life of Bhagat Singh, a martyr in the struggle for India's freedom. After the Indo-Pak War of 1965, Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri asked him to create a film based on the popular slogan Jai Jawan Jai Kissan.

The result was Kumar's magnum opus and his directorial debut, Upkaar (1967). In it, he played both a soldier and a farmer. The film was also noted for the famous song Mere Desh Ki Dharti, written by Gulshan Bawra, composed by Kalyanji-Anandji and sung by Mahendra Kapoor. Upkaar was a hit and won Kumar his first Filmfare Best Director Award.

In his later years of life Manoj Kumar tried hand at politics but didn’t work. He also got into some controversies with Shahrukh on his movie Om shanti Om on some moral issues. Manoj Kumar is a name that itself spells patriotism.
